Coronavirus Update - January 12, 2021

Post Road Pediatrics continues to make every effort to limit contact between sick and well children. Our office has begun to use an entirely separate space in our building to see patients with symptoms compatible with COVID-19. If you make an appointment to be seen in our office and have symptoms compatible with COVID-19, you will be seen in this separate suite. The entrance to this suite is on the Horse Pond Road side of the building and it is recommended that you park your vehicle near that entrance when you arrive. Please continue to call our nurse triage team if your child is sick or injured for guidance. Virtual visits remain available for addressing certain concerns as well.

Testing:

At this time we are providing PCR testing for SARS-CoV-2 in our office for patients who have COVID-19 compatible symptoms. This is a send out test. Appointments should be scheduled with our triage nurse.

If you or your child have been exposed to a person with COVID-19 and are asymptomatic (without symptoms), we are recommending you access testing at another location. Stop the spread sites are offering free COVID-19 testing for patients despite symptoms. Urgent cares also offer testing, but it is important to check with your insurance plan about coverage for those visits. Please see our Find a COVID-19 Testing Site page for more information on local testing sites.

To help keep your family safe, we will continue to perform patient check-in from the parking lot and will take temperatures of patients and family members upon entrance to the office. When possible, only one family member should accompany a patient to the office. Patients and family members are required to wear masks unless under the age of 2 or unable to remove a mask without assistance.

Boston Children’s Hospital has shared with us some resources for helping young children learn to wear a mask:

This is a social story with what to expect if your child needs to be seen for an appointment at Boston Children’s Hospital. Similar procedures are in place in our office as well!

Thank you for allowing us to participate in the care of your children!
