Referral Policy

Beginning in 2017, Post Road Pediatrics is taking on a new initiative to both improve patient care and reduce total medical expense for our patients by increasing care provided within the medical home.

As part of this initiative, Post Road Pediatrics is updating the way in which we process referrals. Going forward, we are asking our patients and families to call us prior to seeing a specialist, to see if the clinical concern can be treated in our office.

The benefits of being seen by your pediatrician within your medical home are numerous:
  • We know your child and family best.
  • We have shorter wait times than many specialists.
  • The cost of receiving care in our office is substantially lower than the cost of seeing a specialist.

There are many conditions and medications that we can manage in the medical home, including but not limited to acne, asthma, allergies, birth control management, and orthopedic conditions.

So the next time something new comes up, please call us to discuss your concerns so that we may ensure your child receives the best care in the most appropriate setting.

If your pediatrician has requested you see a specialist, please leave the following information on our referral voicemail box (978-443-6005, option 4)

Patient name
Date of birth
Pediatrician name
Diagnosis
Specialist name and specialty
NPI number
Fax number
Date of the appointment
Name of your insurance company
And phone number where you can be reached

***Please note that referrals can take up to 10 business days to process***

Thank you!
